Love Your Body and Eat Right!

IMG_4453Self Love January Continues with Eating Right.

As much as exercise is an important thing to make you feel good for Self Love January, so is Eating Right! What we put in our bodies fuels us and keeps us going through out the day, so lets be smart with our choices.

I can definitely do better with this, sometimes I have a hectic work schedule and I just don’t eat. Which is soo bad!! Not eating is just as draining as not putting the “right” foods in your body. Here are some simple tricks that I’ve learned along the way to make sure I’m fueling myself the right way!

1. Don’t Skip Breakfast – I was the Queen of skipping breakfast and not putting anything into my body until lunch time. Even if you aren’t a HUGE breakfast eater, grab something! One of my favorite things to do now is to Make a Smoothie! Currently my favorite smoothie to make is a Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie, recipe below…

  • 8 Oz of Pineapple Juice (After this step I kind of just eyeball everything, not a measuring type of girl. Lol!)
  • 1 – Individual container of either coconut vanilla yogurt or greek vanilla yogurt
  • Frozen Strawberries
  • Blend and Enjoy!! 😀

2. Always Keep a Snack With You – For those hectic days, it’s important to keep a snack with you. You can always get the little individual snacks they sell in the stores, or make your own. Pita and Hummus, Celery and Almond or Peanut Butter, Trail Mix, Dried Fruit, and Granola Bars are some good grab and go snacks to keep in mind.

3. Try Not to Eat Out All the Time – Sometimes its better to stay in and cook your own food so you know exactly what’s going into it. I’m one of those people who’s not that great at putting meals together on my own, but lately I’ve fallen in LOVE with using Home Chef. I get to pick the meals I want and then cook them at home.  It’s soo fun! Everything comes conveniently pre-packaged and the directions are easy to follow and I always end with a “WOW I made this, It’s Soo Good!!”

4. JUICE – And since no one is perfect, if I absolutely fail at doing 1 – 4, then I’ll juice because at least I’ll know something healthy is going in my body. My favorite place to grab them is at Pressed Juicery. Because let’s be honest if I can’t do 1-4 NO WAY I’m juicing at home. Lol!

Endorphins Make You Happy!

IMG_4359Self Love consists of soo many things and fitness is an important part of it because what many people don’t realize is that being active makes you feel good. And you don’t have to be a fitness expert (because I’m not!) to know that!

Elle Woods in Legally Blonde says it best (and yes, I know it’s a movie, but she still says it best! :D)…

“Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.

LOVE that movie! Obviously the last part of that quote is a little extreme but, the point is that it makes you happy and that is definitely what Self Love is all about.

Here are some things that I like to do to stay active…

  1. Hiking. This is great because it’s FREE and when you get to the top you get to take in an incredible view. Here are some of my favorite hiking spots.
    1. Fryman Canyon – This is an easy hike that I take my little pup Aurora on with me all the time. The trail is easy to follow and there are several look out spots that I love to sit at and take in the view. It’s located in the Valley off of Laurel Canyon Blvd not too far from Ventura Blvd, and there is ample FREE parking.
    2. Runyon Canyon – The Oh So Popular Hollywood Hike. There are several different trails you can take making this a hike you can do a bit differently each time. I LOVE being able to see  basically all of Los Angeles from one of the look out spots, and you can also catch a glimpse of the Hollywood Sign from another spot. There are two different entrances, the most popular one is off of Franklin and Fuller. Parking can be horrible (since it’s street parking), so get there early!
  2. Soul Cycle. There is nothing better then clicking into your bike and letting your body go to the beat of the music!! This is a full body work out that’s FUN! It leaves you feeling great on the inside and out which is why I LOVE this spin class. It can get price-y but it’s worth it!
  3. Dancing. You laugh, but sometimes dancing is my cardio! You can do this the traditional way and take a class at a studio. OR you can just go to your favorite dance spot and dance the night away, maybe just drink sparkling water for the evening if you’re truly doing it for cardio! lol.

Self Love January

Happy 2018!

Excited for everything this year is going to bring for The Single Girl Life, can’t wait to have you along for the ride!! One of the changes you’ll see are monthly themes, this months theme is Self Love.

With a new year at hand, one of the things I want everyone to remember to give themselves is Self Love. There’s only one you, so make sure you take care of yourself!

Whether you do that through planning your next adventure, dreaming more, personal development, getting the perfect abs, making healthy eating choices, getting a mani+pedi, buying a new outfit that makes you feel like you’re strutting down the runway, or wearing a new red lipstick to make bold moves in. Do something for YOU! It can be big or small, the only criteria is that it makes YOU feel good.

And remember, The Single Girl Life is a great one to lead, you’re in charge of YOU! Only you can create your own happiness.

Why I’ll Spend New Years 2018 Alone, and LOVE it!

079A5675You read right, I’m going to ring in the New Year by myself tomorrow. But why you ask?

BECAUSE I WANT TO! There isn’t a special guy in my life right now, and everyone else I would want to spend it with are away or have plans with their special someone, and NO ONE wants to be the third wheel. Especially on New Years.

So, instead of choosing to show up to some party by myself (Which is fun by the way, you should read my article about why I go to things alone here.) and deal with all the F*ckboys trying to get their New Year’s Kiss on, I CHOOSE ME. Believe me, it’s not fun when you know the opposite sex is on the hunt, and on a night that “sets the tone” for the rest of the year, do you really want to start it off with someone you barely know? I mean you can, I’m sure it’ll be fun, I’ve definitely done the last minute New Year’s thing before, YOU DO YOU if that’s what you choose, but this year I CHOOSE ME.

Choosing You is something everyone should do more often, and since I plan on starting 2018 by choosing me what better way to start the night leading into it.

Here are some things I’ll be doing to ring in the New Year…

  1. Drinking First Press Ruby Red Sparkling Wine from Cost Plus World Market
  2. Cupcake Making, To have while doing the below! 😀
  3. Watching Sex and the City – The Movie (for the 50th time, but who doesn’t love Carrie Bradshaw??) and Bridget Jones’s Diary. Thanks Cosmo!
  4. 2018 Dream/Goal Setting Board Making
  5. Cuddles With My Puppy
